April in Paris

Penguin Cafe Orchestra

I am not even joking about this amazing orchestra!

Founded by British composer Simon Jeffes, Penguin Cafe Orchestra aims to play 'imaginary folklore' music - tunes that are foreign yet rings a bell in everyone' heart and mind. My itune is forever looping their tunes - the intimately intertwining sounds of piano, ukelele, violins and trombone and exotic percussions. :)

Friday Tea Party

went to portobello road market, he bought me my very first vintage tea cup! now i am having some whittard of chelsea white tea.
and feeling oh-so-relaxed with the abundance of cakes and free flow of tea.

*the impossible project

*my beau and i, paris (polaroid supercolor se 635)

Polaroid may have shut down their factories - but instant film is not dead! The impossible project has succeeded in reviving films for polaroid cameras by starting a factory from scratch, rediscovering the technology and marketing it worldwide. The new films do have some amazing design and packaging - I cannot wait to try it out : )

Spring Cleaning

just one more week until sunset at 7! i simply cannot wait. have been fixing a few errands - finishing off essays, reading, cleaning, vintage shopping :) and clearing out clothes on my ebay store that i haven't been wearing for a while (to fit the new things into the closet, oops)

as the sun rises up earlier i shall wake up to the sound of birds and go for a little run.

bonjour tristesse

gritty with sand, dazed with sun; naive, youthful charm, sometimes exquisite but always beautiful.

some book covers:

my copy: penguin books from my local secondhand bookshop
(it was marked 15p! the shopkeeper just gave it to me for free)

to be bold, floral and black.

*from here

I like things to be quite poppy, quite graphic -- it's quite a London sensibility. I'm not looking for 'pretty' or 'nice'. Stripes are always a huge thing for me. I'm obsessed with strip'es. I like a graphic flower print, not a delicate Liberty (of London) print, and I like uniform prints.
- Luella Bartley

oh dear.

sunday morning: wake up very late as the sunshine warms up my feet, cooked scrambled egg, stroked the cat, walked from southbank back home in bloomsbury. via route is covent garden and i never come back empty-handed...

from h&m garden collection - organic cotton shorts.

and ditsy print sunnies from topshop.

later this week

as (hopeful as i am) spring has invariably arrived, i am going to a) finish the roll in the film slr (it's a canon av-1) b) go to portobello road market at some point c) go to fortnum & mason for ice-cream at their parlour and d) read in the sun.

le trench

after seeing it transiently on topshop site and Garance Dore's blog, i still cannot take my mind off this beautifully cut, perfectly beige coat (look at those buttons, so luxe!) - now if only i know where to get it... how come it's never on the topshop site/shop anymore, pourquoi pas?

I dream Parisian dreams, last year this time.

the best hot chocolate in the world, the lustrous taste still lingering in my mind, steam coming out for the cat-shaped jug.

Girl of my Dreams III

*from luz de noche's photostream

It was the summer before when my boyfriend introduces me to nouvelle vague (french new wave) films - in the heat of the summer we spent hours hiding away in cinemas and watching Jean-Luc Godard's films. Anna Karina is the star, beauty and muse in many of his movies (apparently they co-directed some films together!) in the 60's, and while Jean Seberg is a composed, calm, intelligent American beauty, Anna Karina is sure the bubbly Danish girl, full of wit and exuberance and irresistable charm. She looks great in both blanc et noir and colour!

I especially love Bande a Part and Une Femme est Une Femme.
